The first day - YO YO test & 20m Sprint assessment.

Review of the first day:

Today went OK, I was introduced to the group and I explained was I doing and why I was there. They seemed interest and was quite enthusiastic about the new program until I mentioned that we had 2 tests today, a Yo Yo intermittent test and a 3 x 20 m repeated sprint assessment. In hindsight, I should have done the testing on the second visit and got to know the group a little better today.  Even though the tests went well trying to control and record the results for 20 athletes was quite chaotic. I remember feeling really anxious that I was going to get the results wrong and we would have to them again. Thankfully that didn't happen and all went well and some of the lads even said they enjoyed it, which was nice way to end the day.

Below is the results from the Yo Yo test and a 3 x 20 m best effort, the 20m Sprint was conducted 10 minutes after the Yo Yo test. I chose the Yo Yo intermittent recovery test level 1 based on the recommendation of the study conducted by Castagna (2006) who suggests that this test is regarded as an aerobic-anaerobic soccer specific field test.
